Jerry's Place
Jerry’s Place: A Hospice Home Project is a program of the Jerry Rubin Foundation for Cancer Care (a 501c-3). The goal of Jerry’s Place is to establish a Social Model Hospice option in Monterey County to address a gap in available resources. It will offer a comfortable home-like environment for individuals enrolled in a medical hospice program to live out their final days, specifically when they do not have a safe and stable living situation or caregiver.
Jerry Place leases two rooms at Mariposa Assisted Living Home Care, an established Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) located in Seaside. Individuals enrolled in hospice will be assigned to one of these two rooms, which are single-occupancy and fully furnished in a home-like environment. Mariposa’s furnished rooms will fulfill the need for those who lack an adequate living situation. Family and friends can be at a person’s side without the burden of managing all the caregiving responsibilities. Individuals will continue receiving usual care from their hospice agency but in a stable, residential environment.
